Once the correct amount of line is on the reel then measure 6 to 12 inches from the end of the tip of the rod and cut off the line at this point. Attach tackle and whatever lure (if any) you plan to use and your rod is ready to go.

Once your rod is assembled you can easily slip the two pieces apart again for transportation in the trunk of your car or to take up less space in that back pack.
